Volunteer
Our chapter runs on volunteers! Whether you’d like to help at an outing, lend a hand at an event, share your prospecting knowledge, or help behind the scenes, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
To be considered an active member, you must attend four meetings within 12 months. Volunteering at a chapter event can help you meet that requirement - each day you volunteer at an event counts as one meeting attended.

Fernley Intermediate School, gold panning event for kids
Join us for a fun day at Fernley Intermediate School as we teach approximately 300 students how to pan for gold! Students will rotate through in groups of about 20 every 30 minutes, giving them a chance to get hands-on experience and learn a little about gold prospecting along the way.

⏰ Volunteers needed: 8:00 AM–3:00 PM
We’d love to have volunteers for the full day, but any amount of time you can give is helpful, even just a couple of hours! A light breakfast and pizza lunch will be provided for volunteers. To volunteer, please RSVP with our Chapter President or fill out the volunteer form below.

Cottonwood Elementary School, gold panning event for kids
Join us for Cottonwood Elementary School’s annual Nevada Day Celebration on Thursday, October 29! We’ll be giving students a hands-on introduction to gold panning and prospecting, with groups of students rotating through our station approximately every 30 minutes.

⏰ Set-up begins at 8:30 AM
Student presentations begin around 9:00 AM
Volunteers will help demonstrate gold panning, work with students as they try it themselves, and keep our station running smoothly throughout the event. A light breakfast will be provided in the morning, and volunteers are invited to stay for a potluck lunch after the final presentation.
